James R. Gura, AIF®

Jim grew up in the Chicagoland area, where he started his career in the financial industry more than 25 years ago on the floor of the Chicago Board of Options Exchange. In 1997, he associated with Marquette Partners, where he pioneered screen-based trading and participated in developing some of the platforms available today in electronic trading. This was a fast-paced environment where he instantly digested and analyzed economic news to predict market direction. After 17 years as a successful discretionary trader, he decided to apply his knowledge and experience in a new direction, helping clients navigate the complex world of investing.

When working with clients, Jim uses his extensive experience as a market maker to create flexible and individualized plans that will best fit each client’s needs. He helps them to identify risks in their financial life by using his trading experience of studying the economy and news events, which ultimately drive market behavior. After identifying a client’s financial goals and risks, a plan is developed and continuously monitored.

Jim lives in St. Louis with his wife and two teenage daughters, where they are active in their community. Jim currently serves on the Kirkwood/Des Peres Chamber of Commerce’s Board and enjoys volunteering alongside his family in many other community-building opportunities.
